Asthma Educator Institute

Asthma Educator Institute is a two-day conference with credit-earning courses on Asthma and other respiratory subjects for health care providers and professionals engaged in asthma treatment and education. The faculty and participants come from across the state. The courses provide continuing education updates which are crucial components in reducing deaths and enhancing the quality of life among asthma sufferers and their families.

General Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the Comprehensive Asthma Management course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand lung pathophysiology, pharmacological interventions, assessment of physical status, environmental factors, learnring style and factors related to culture, language, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and education leve.
  • Design asthma education and management plans for varied individuals
  • Analyze and design educational programs for an institutional setting

Participants Receive:

  • The latest research on the pathophysiology and factors contributing to asthma, including airway remodeling, infant lung function, and geriatric assessment of asthma.
  • Cutting edge information on asthma management and education including: updates on new medications and delivery devices, environmental factors, and current research.
  • Specialty topics including cultural considerations and behavioral models for chronic illness management.
  • Program development.
  • A professional networking environment.
  • This training will prepare participants to sit for the National Asthma Educator Certification Board Examination
